Warning lights and fault codes
A warning light shows which system has logged a fault, not which part has failed. The fault code narrows it down, but it is a starting point for diagnosis, not a confirmed repair.
Common warning lights
- Engine management
- A fault was logged in the engine or emissions control system.
- Diesel particulate filter
- The filter may be blocked or a related sensor has a fault.
- Hybrid system
- A fault in the high-voltage system. Do not ignore it.
- Battery or charging
- The charging system may not be keeping the battery charged.
- ABS or stability control
- The anti-lock or stability system has detected a fault.
- Airbag (SRS)
- A fault in the airbag or seat belt system. Have it checked promptly.
